2017 Finish-A-Long

I decided to join the 2017 Finish-A-Long for the 4th Quarter. I have been watching everyone’s progress and felt the need to jump in. In case you are not familiar with the FAL, it is a place to find motivation and encouragement to complete those unfinished projects that are hanging about becoming UFOs. Every quarter you post a list of projects you hope to finish in the next three months, and then at the end of the quarter, you post a link from your blog, Flickr or Instagram of each successful finish from your original list.

Here is my of quilts I would like to complete this year:

Of Cloth and Thread quilt

This is an old pattern by Kaye England. It includes 12 – 12″ Star blocks  with floral borders. Currently my star blocks are done and I am ready to add the sashing and borders to the quilt. Here is a picture of the blocks and sashing on my design wall.

4 Patch Shift

This quilt is from the book Skip the Borders by Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts. I LOVE all the quilts in this book and highly recommend it. The main fabrics I am using in this quilt are from the Happy Go Lucky fabric line by Bonnie & Camille of Thimble Blossoms. I have all the pieces for this quilt cut out; just need to start piecing. Here is my stack of cut fabrics for this quilt

Amethyst

This quilt is from the May/June 2014 issue of McCall’s quilting magazine. I have a large stack of fabrics from the Make a Wish Fabric line from Camelot Fabrics Collection 2 by Alisse Courter. I had been looking for a good pattern for these fabrics for a while and found this quilt in an old magazine and thought it would be perfect. All I have is a fabric pull for the quilt and have planned which fabrics will be used for which part of the quilt.

These are the fabrics I will use for my Amethyst quilt

Boxed In

This is another quilt from the book Skip the Borders by Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts. I have enough of the Make a Wish Fabric line to make this quilt too. As with the Amethyst quilt, all I have for this project is a fabric pull for the quilt and have planned which fabrics will be used for which part of the quilt, see picture above for the fabrics that will be used in this quilt too.

That’s my list. Fingers crossed I can finish my list by the end of the year! Make sure to check out the other lists of projects on the 2017 FAL page!
